The perfect finish for brick!

Terrachrom LIME PAINT is an ideal finish for brick surfaces, offering a fresh new look for your façade, fireplace, or interior brick walls. Lime paint works to enhance the appearance of brick rather than hide it, and develops a natural patina over time, giving each surface a one-of-a-kind character.
This breathable, highly UV-resistant paint is designed to last. While it typically maintains its original appearance for about five years, it gradually weathers with exposure to the elements, creating a beautifully aged finish that can endure for decades.

Lime plasters have the ability to manage moisture effectively by absorbing humidity and gradually releasing it to the exterior. This characteristic helps make weathered walls more resilient over time. Often likened to a sponge, lime draws in water vapour and slowly diffuses it outward, preventing the buildup of internal moisture.

Brick and Lime Paint: A Perfect Pairing

Absorption and BreathabilityThe natural porosity of brick makes it an ideal surface for LIME PAINT. Lime is absorbed into the brick, creating a strong chemical bond that enhances the durability of the finish. Because both materials are breathable, they work in harmony to help walls naturally regulate humidity and temperature.
Moisture Management
LIME PAINT allows moisture to evaporate from the brick rather than trapping it inside, which helps prevent condensation and mold growth. This is especially valuable in humid climates or in areas where temperature fluctuations can lead to moisture buildup within walls.
Weather Resistance
Outdoors, LIME PAINT forms a protective yet breathable layer. It shields brick surfaces from rain, wind, and shifting temperatures, all while maintaining the wall’s ability to breathe. This not only preserves the structural integrity of the brick but also extends the life of façades over time.
Ease of Maintenance
LIME PAINT weathers beautifully and is easy to maintain. If touch-ups are needed, a fresh coat can be applied directly over the existing surface—no stripping or intensive prep required. Its natural aging process only adds character over time, making upkeep simple and low-impact.
Simple Application, Beautiful Results
LIME PAINT is easy to apply, often requiring just a single coat to achieve an authentic limewash finish. On unpainted, absorbent masonry—such as brick, stone, or similar surfaces—no primer is needed. Simply clean the surface and dampen it before painting.
For surfaces that have been previously painted or treated with non-lime-based products, we recommend first applying our TEXTURED Lime Primer to ensure proper adhesion. Both the primer and LIME PAINT are suitable for use on interior and exterior masonry.
Note that LIME PAINT does not appear fully opaque when first applied. Allow the paint to dry completely before evaluating the final color and finish. Unlike conventional paints, limewash penetrates the surface and develops its character over time. Additional coats can be added to build opacity and depth. The result is a durable, breathable finish that will not peel or chip with age.
Controlling Opacity
LIME PAINT provides a naturally opaque finish. However, if you prefer a more weathered or textured look that reveals some of the underlying brick or stone, you can gently wash or wipe away the paint while it’s still wet—typically around 30 minutes after application, depending on temperature and humidity. In hot or sunny conditions, you may need to begin this process earlier. The amount removed is entirely up to you, allowing for a custom, lived-in aesthetic.
If you prefer a matte, lightly textured and opaque finish, apply 2 coats for a better result.

Application Tips
For best results, apply lime paint during suitable weather conditions:
-
Ensure at least three consecutive dry days
-
Apply at least one week before or after the last frost
-
Ensure temperatures between 7°C and 27°C (45°F to 80°F)
Cleanup and Removal
Cleanup is simple—just soap and water, and it's safe for surrounding vegetation.
LIME PAINT can be wiped/brushed or washed off with water (or a vinegar & water solution) immediately after application. With the use of a pressure washer, the entire application can be removed up to 2 days following the initial application.
