TerraChrom Marble Dust is a finely milled natural calcium carbonate powder sourced from Canadian quarries. Also known as whiting powder or ground calcium carbonate, it is widely used as a mineral filler in limewash, lime paint, casein paint, gesso, decorative plasters, and mineral coatings.
This versatile mineral powder improves body, opacity, and texture while maintaining the breathable character of traditional lime and water-based finishes. Its controlled particle size allows smooth dispersion in binders while creating subtle mineral texture in paints and plasters.
Naturally white and chemically stable, marble dust is trusted by artisans, paint makers, and restoration professionals working with traditional mineral materials.

Common Uses
Mineral Paints & Decorative Finishes
Marble dust is widely used in traditional coatings and paints, including:
• Limewash and lime paint
• Casein paint
• Mineral paints
• Gesso preparation
• Decorative plasters and stucco
It improves coverage and texture while maintaining the breathable qualities of mineral finishes.
Construction Applications
Marble dust can also be used in construction and decorative materials such as:
• Plasters and mortars
• Decorative cement and concrete
• Lime-based coatings and renders
Artistic & Craft Applications
• Sculpture and casting
• Mosaics
• Paper making
• Engraving processes
It can also be combined with glue or binders as a natural filler for surface preparation.
Additional Uses (Ultra Fine / Whiting Powder)
Ultra fine marble dust has traditionally been used as a gentle polishing and cleaning powder.
Common uses include:
• Polishing silver and metals
• Cleaning copper, brass, and stainless steel
• Cleaning glass and mirrors
• Reviving marble surfaces

Mixing Guidelines
Start by adding a small amount of marble dust to your paint, plaster, or binder and mix thoroughly.
Gradually increase the amount to achieve the desired thickness or texture. If the mixture becomes too thick, add additional liquid or binder to adjust the consistency.
Because marble dust is naturally white, it generally does not significantly alter the colour of most mixtures.
Safety
Marble dust is a natural mineral powder but may cause irritation if inhaled as dust.
• Avoid breathing airborne dust
• Use a dust mask when handling powder
• Protective gloves are recommended
• Work in a well-ventilated area
