A mineral pigment is a finely ground natural earth or mineral sourced from rocks, soils, or mineral deposits. It offers exceptional colour stability, UV resistance, and long-lasting durability, making it ideal for both traditional and contemporary art materials. Mineral pigments contain no dyes or synthetic colourants—their colour comes directly from their geological origin, giving each shade a unique natural character.

In this collection, you will find a variety of natural earth, umber, sienna, and ochre pigments imported from different quarries across Europe. These pigments have been tested in our lime paints and decorative cement finishes, as well as in watercolour paints created by our collaborating artists and customers, to give you a realistic idea of the shades that can be achieved using our mineral pigments.

These pigments blend easily with a wide range of binders, including lime, cement, watercolour and acrylic mediums, oils, gums, and other water-based binders. They provide varying levels of opacity and granulation depending on their composition, with a matte, earthy finish typical of natural materials.

Perfect for artists, craftspeople, and makers seeking authentic, non-toxic colour for paints, plasters, coatings, and creative projects.

Key features:

  • Ideal for use in acrylic, oil, watercolour, lime, natural binders, or white concrete and cement mixes.

  • Non-toxic and eco-friendly, providing natural earth tones and long-lasting vibrancy for painting, plasters, and decorative finishes. These pigments yield soft, natural tones with a matte, opaque finish and excellent UV resistance.

  • We recommend a maximum ratio of 10% pigment by volume in paint, binder, or cement/concrete mixes to maintain the integrity of the final product. For best results, dilute the pigment in lukewarm water before adding it to your chosen medium. Refer to the attached images for examples of shade development in lime paint and decorative cement at a 10% ratio.

  • 150 ml / 5 fl oz of pigment will tint approximately 1 litre, and 1 kg / 2.2 lbs of pigment will tint approximately 10 litres (2.6 gallons) of paint, decorative plaster, or finishes to the reference shade, depending on the base colour used.

  • 150 ml / 5 fl oz of pigment will tint approximately 1 litre, and 1 kg / 2.2 lbs of pigment will tint up to 10 kg / 22 lbs of white cement or concrete mix to the reference shade. When used with grey cement, colour results will vary.

  • Powder colourant: mineral earth pigments can be blended together to create custom shades.

Our mineral pigments are available in 150 ml sizes for testing or small projects, as well as larger 1 kg, 5 kg, and 20–25 kg formats for larger applications.

Smaller pigment packages are sold by volume, while the larger 1 kg / 2.2 lb bags are sold by weight. The values indicated on smaller package labels (150 ml / 5 oz) refer to volume, not weight. Because pigment densities vary significantly and our paint recipes are volume-based, we sell smaller sizes by volume to ensure consistency and ease of use.

* Pigments are shipped in bags or containers depending on size and packaging options.
