Bone Glue

Bone glue is used for the gluing of wood and other woodworking and carpentry projects due to its numerous properties. Bone Glue can fill voids and imperfect assembly joints, can serve as a buffer between different types of woods and follows the hygrometry of wood (swelling & contracting).

Contrary to modern glues, Bone Glue is reversible when heated.

Use a glass or a copper container to prepare the Bone Glue, do not use metallic container.

RATIO: 100 g of Bone Glue for 200 to 300 ml of water.

Soak the glue in cold water for 6 to 12 hours until desired viscosity is obtained. Melt using a Bain-Marie for 15 to 20 minutes, do not exceed 65°C, stir using a wooden tool.. As the temperature rises, foam will appear on the surface; this means the glue is ready for use.

Caution: Do not boil; the more the glue is heated, the less resistant it will become.
