Stone Grey is a natural mineral pigment derived from pure Ardennes shale, developed to reproduce the subtle, cool grey tones characteristic of finely ground slate and sedimentary rock.
Finely milled from naturally occurring shale formed over hundreds of millions of years, it is composed primarily of clay minerals (illite and kaolinite), with quartz and trace iron compounds. This mineral composition gives Stone Grey its soft, earthy tonality, excellent stability, and reliable colouring performance.
Stone Grey is a 100% natural, untreated, non-synthetic pigment with no known hazard to health or the environment when used as intended. As a natural material, colour and particle characteristics may vary slightly from batch to batch, reflecting the unique geology of the Ardennes source.
It is well suited for use in lime-based finishes, natural paints, decorative cements, and artistic or conservation and restoration applications. Compatible with oil, acrylic, casein, lime, and other mineral-based binders.
