Sienna is a pigment of iron oxide and uncolored minerals (such as clay, silica, calcium carbonate), more translucent and warmer than ochres. This pigment owes its name to the Italian city of Siena, located in Tuscany, a region of rolling hills, known for the extraction and production of the pigment for over 700 years. But it is also found in other parts of Europe, such as the Luberon mountains in France.

Yellow pigment with a touch of red, its colors are deep, with a strong coloring power.
